I have to post this one to start this Tropical cap thread. Just an amazing cap and I was very lucky to find it. Even more lucky that it's gone to a very good home now! I think it was printed in a book a few years ago but I wasn't kept in touch about that. Attachments:

One of the first caps I ever bought, the USA seller on ebay described it as a "desert cap". It still has the Heer eagle underneath the Luft eagle which is crudely stitched on but totally authentic.

Thanks Timothy, There are several excellent photographs of Fallschirmjaeger in North Africa wearing m40's with this method of identity alteration, not just pinned cap eagles etc applied. I'd like to think this could be one of those, but who knows.... Mark Attachments:
