Alright, so this one is an NCO Wehrmacht visor. It is early war and the strap is HEAVILY ink marked. From what I can remember it was dated 1938 but I don't want to mess with it a lot because I would really hate to break it on accident. The whole thing is in fantastic shape...EXCEPT FOR THE MOTH THAT DIDN'T HAVE THE DECENCY TO CHEW ON SOMETHING ELSE! It took a few holes on the front but they are pretty minor. ALSO, take into note the area (last pic I believe) that shows the thumb wear from the soldier taking the hat on and off a lot. It is definite thumb wear too...really interesting and I am sure all issued hats have this. Bob on GHW2 helped me with the info on the ink stamps which I really appreciate: "The 88th Infantry Regiment was a part of the 15th Infantry Division. They fought mainly in the East."

Nice cap! It was made by a cooperative of manufacturers (LAGO) in the Hesse region of Germany hence the rather long makers stamp and date, 1935.

I like it. I have never been big fan of the tellermutze style caps like this but its a personal preference. Great piece of early headgear. Matt

Nice NCO EM cap I like the unit marked and you don't find them everyday. Wasn't the 88th wiped out in the East at Pilau or maybe I am confused with another unit. Nice cap and great find timothy
