Ok so this is one I bought on ebay and got the seller to drop the price quite a bit due to the additional stitch holes in the liner. I have it and have to say that I still think the liner is original to the cap and that it was likely re-sewn at some point in its history. I bought it because to its shape and I like the look of it. There was a bit of a nasty debate about it on the WAF, so please feel free to discuss it here if anyone cares to. I still like it quite a bit but opinions are always welcomed. Matt

I like it, if the lining was restitched , i think it was done period, the fold pleats in the material appear not to have been disturbed if at all, which, unless some guy really knew his stuff, the possibility of precisely folding these back in place would prove difficult, i see that there was possibly another eagle, somewhat smaller that had been attached at one time, all told , a nice cap, any chance of replacing the eagle or are you leaving this one as is

The piping on this is a tough one to figure out. In some of the pictures it looks lime green and in others it shows jäger. But I would personally treat it as jäger. It's still a lovely cap and in a great collection!

Thanks for the comments guys. I am quite confident the liner is original to it but that it was likely period redone. I had Ben look it over with me before I bought it. The problem is, the guy I bought it from has been selling some really shifty caps. Some that are good but most are really high end reproductions, which throws this one into question. I am quite confident that the base cap is original and based on having it in hand I believe the lining is original to it as well. That said I could be completely wrong but overall I like it quite a bit. I have replaced the eagle on it, I keep a nice supply of eagles on hand at any given time. Matt

Just to clarify, I think Matt is referring to the sweatband being resewn or at least repair stitched because there is evidence of that.
The lining itself looks totally untouched to me.
